Walking is great for your overall health. As it's a type of aerobic exercise, you'll burn calories while also losing weight and bettering your heart. Unlike running, which can stress your joints, you can walk at any pace you prefer. To illustrate, I've always wondered how my brother could remain so thin when he eats too much junk food. Although he says he doesn't know, I think the fact that he walks daily may be the reason. As soon as he said that, I understood better. Try and get into a routine of walking everyday because you'll have a better chance of sticking to it, and with the right diet, you'll be able to lose weight easily. When you walk on a regular basis, you'll find that you feel more fit and are motivated to continue walking every day. As you walk more regularly and see changes, you'll want to do more or step up the intensity of your walks. If you sense you're ready to move on to something tougher, don't be afraid to try. Walk a little faster than you usually do and perhaps jog for a few steps along the way if you feel like it. From that point, you can go on to more energetic activities.

There should be no reason for you to not walk a short distance each day. Even if you have a full schedule, you can take out 10 minutes to walk around the neighborhood, or if you have a gym membership, nip in and do half an hour on the treadmill at a slow pace to start off with.
